Eco-adventure
cruise on the river Chao Phraya (Bangkok)
A unique opportunity to explore the rural life of the Thai
people living along the river Chao Phraya, the time of a journey
on board of a traditional barge made of teak.
You will not only navigate in the middle of amazing landscapes,
but also discover the central plains with the escapades by
bicycle,
in a region of Thailand that is rarely visited by tourists.

|
The cruise
will take you on board of a traditional barge made of teak
on the river Chao Praya, that literally means "the river
of the kings", for the discovery of Koh Kret, Koh Kerd
and Koh Pai, amazing islands at less than an hour of navigation
from Bangkok.
With bicycles on board, frequent
stops
are made along the way to explore the countryside via small
paths, and observe
the way of life and culture of the rural Thai
people. There will be opportunities to see
the traditional handicrafts still produced
in these areas and meet with the local villagers living well
in a world far from the places
frequented by the tourists. The barge
is 21 metres in length and 6 metres wide. It provides simple
but comfortable air-conditionned accommodation for maximum
12 persons, with on-board shower
and 2 toilets. Plus 15 bicycles,
a crew of 4, and 1 English
speaking guide. |

The spacious upper deck has
ample room to relax, especially after a ride with the bicycles.
There, enjoy
a refreshing drink under the breeze of the navigation
that will make you appreciate these moments of rest.
You will be able to dedicate your time to read a book,
write your journal, play chess or work on your tan,
or just watch the world drift slowly by.
"The
most spectacular moment during the cruise
was probably the chance to admire on that day
a large number of storks perched in the trees,
that we photographed from a twenty metres
high observation tower."
excerpt of the story written by Michel GÉRARD

These
Asian storks come to nest very close to
the Chawl Praya river within the temple Wat Pailom during
the wintry season, where they migrate
from the north of India and Siberia
Meals
will be taken on board and everyone is welcome to help in
their preparation
and so learn something of the art of Thai cuisine. One
can also go alone with the cook
to the local market to buy the day's ingredients. |
