Cruise on the river Chao Phraya, in 3 days / 2 nights Ref: RT001A
Departure from Bangkok on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
and arrival at Ayuthaya on Monday at noon

Day 1: Bangkok / Parkred / Samkok / Mae Nam Noi

08.30 Appointment at the pier of Pinklao bridge in Bangkok with the English-speaking local guide. Welcome by the crew of the barge, then departure on the river Chao Phraya for a 3 days journey in an authentic Thailand.

10.00 Arrival at Koh Kred, an astonishing island in the middle of the river Chao Phraya, that is famous for its traditional potteries that can be bought from the inhabitants of the Mon ethnic origins. Discovery of the island on foot, with vidits of religious sites and local market (about 3-4 km).

12.00 Departure toward Samkok, with lunch on board, then set off by bicycle for an exploration of the countryside and discovery of the local community that lives along the river bank. Visit of the temple Wat Sakae, stop in a local market, then continuation toward the Wat Chedi Lanière, famous for its Buddha made of white jade.

14.00 Navigation on the river to Wat Pailom, well known as a winter nesting ground of the Asian Open bill Stork which migrates from northern India and Siberia to this unique place

15.30 Departure from Wat Pailom and navigation upriver to the unspoilt Mae Nam Noi, a small branch of the main Chao Phraya River with beautiful landscapes.

17.30 Arrival at Wat Chang Noi for the night. Dinner and night on board.

Day 2: Mae Nam Noi / Pamok

08.00 Breakfast, then departure by bicycle in the early morning for the discovery of a village with its local market. Visit of a countryside school and meeting with the school children who may ask for a lesson of French or English. Return to the barge and navigation toward the Wat Taku.

11.30 Lunch on board, then departure by bicycle to explore the countryside and the villages along the river Mae Nam Noi, with stops in handicraft workshops of friendly villagers, or in stalls where there is always something to buy!

Discovery of the farmer life

15.00 Connection with the barge to Wat Kophai and navigation toward Bang Sadej for the visit of a temple and an orphanage where mainly children of ethnic tribes receive education and professional training. Continuation by bicycle to the main village to discover the villagers' handicrafts, then free time to appreciate the friendly contact of the population.

17.00 Depart to Pamok on the river for the second overnight. Dinner on board.

Info: At 15 minutes on foot from the barge, an outdoor bar will be an opportunity to participate in a typical Thai evening. For more info ask the crew...

Day 3: Pamok / Ayuthaya

07.00 Early wake-up for the visit of a local temple and participation in a food offering to Buddhist monks. Continuation to a small village and then breakfast on board.

Info: A factory of tom-tom not far from the pier can be visited, there you can buy a drum at a good price. Ask your guide!

09.00 Departure towards Ayuthaya that was the capital of the kingdom from 1350 to1767, and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

12.00 Arrival at Ayuthaya train station pier and end of the cruise.

Why wouldn't you rent the barge to celebrate an event in family, to renew a friendship between friends or to motivate your team? That is possible in small committee and up to 12 persons. We can also adapt the trip outside with VTT for the sports people, prepare a dinner for a birthday, provide massages on board or organise a theme cruise according to your demand, so see you soon!

Ayuthaya / Bangkok: Departure from Ayuthaya on Wednesday at 8:30 am and arrival in Bangkok on Friday at 6 pm.

Return to Bangkok or continuation towards the North:
By train: the station is located at 100 metres of the pier, and Bangkok is reached in 1:30 hour. There is a night train to Chiang Mai with departure at about 9.00 pm and arrive in the next morning.
By vehicle: according to the destination and the number of participants, transfers can be arranged with supplement to Bangkok or northern Thailand.
The airport of Donmuang (Bangkok) is at 1:00 hour of Ayuthaya, and it is also possible to arrange a flight to the north or the islands of the south.

Info: Bring soap, towel and other personal toilet items, trousers or shorts suitable for cycling, a sweatshirt or a coat for the cool nights, insect repellent, and a sense of adventure!

I will always remember this day when I went on board this twenty-one-metre long and six-metre wide barge made of teak, named "The Floating Treasure", for an unforgettable journey from the capital toward the central plains. Its name was effectively well chosen as during my three-day stay in its wooden belly, I discovered with the rhythm of water a treasure of landscapes hidden from tourists.
