Eco-adventure trek in Umphang (Mae Sot) Ref: RT003A
On the Burmese border, the National Park of Umphang offers everything
for an unforgettable trip in the jungle: flourishing nature, tiny trails, bathing
in the waterfalls, discovery of small forgotten villages, elephant riding in
difficult passages, descent of rapids on bamboo rafts in direction
of the biggest waterfall of Thailand in the Karen territories.

Day 1: Mae Sot / Umphang

Welcome to Mae Sot by our local guide, then transfer by local vehicle to Umphang by the road number 1090 that used to be called "the road of the death" because of the guerrilla warfare that prevented all circulation in the past. At the arrival in Umphang, Thai lunch at the lodge, then afternoon free at leisure to discover the village populated of Karen with their elephants, which are used again for the farm work.
Dinner and overnight in the Lodge on the sides of the river Mae Klong.


Day 2: Umphang / Ta Sai / Tilosu

After the breakfast, departure from the Lodge by bamboo rafts (or rubber rafts according to the season) on the river Huay May Klong to Ta Sai, with various stops like the cascade of To-Lo-Jo, a hot spring geyser, a passage of the rapids of Takhubi, then observation of the cliff of Phaluat with an astonishing vegetation on the top and hives of bees.

Picnic lunch on the sides of the river in Ta Sai, then continuation by trekking or elephant riding to the waterfall of Ti-Lo-Su known as the biggest of Thailand, and also the 6th largest of the world with about a hundred cascades on 400 meters width.Bathing and free time there. Dinner and overnight bivouac in the forestry camp.

Day 3: Tilosu / Khota / Bivouac Jungle

After an early breakfast, start of a trek towards the jungle with the discovery of a surprising and very protected nature. Your guide will be at your disposal to answer all questions concerning the fauna and flora of the place.

At the Karen village of Khota, take a rest, then lunch will be served in a traditional house. Free time in the village to meet with the Karen who cultivate rice, weave and raise elephants. In the afternoon, depart on elephant back for a 4 hours expedition in the jungle with spectacular vegetation. Dinner and overnight in jungle bivouac with the elephants.

Day 4: Bivouac Jungle / Palatha

After an early breakfast, enjoy elephant riding in the jungle with stops to discover the nature and the fauna, then cross a river and ride between rice fields...

Picnic lunch, then trekking through the jungle to the village of Palatha.

Dinner and overnight in traditional bungalows, with a fire camp and Karen songs organized by the guide's team for this last evening in the national park of Umphang.

Day 5: Umphang / Mae So

After breakfast, trekking in the jungle, then return to Umphang by local vehicle.

Lunch in Umphang, then travel to Mae Sot with a stop in the last Karen village, before the transfer to Mae Sot airport for the return flight to Bangkok, or Chiang Mai.

An excursion accessible to all for a small committee of 30 people maximum on the basis of the circuit presented. Also possible for a group up to 150 persons or more, with adaptation of the itinerary. We master all the logistic for the transfers, lodgings and meals and we have about thirty local guides for the supervision of the activities. How to get to Mea Sot:

By Air: prices & schedules , contact us.

By Road: departure by local air-conditionned bus every day from the Morchit bus station to Nakhon Sawan, Tak and Mae Sot (7-9 hours-trip). Vehicle rental with driver, contact us.

Info: Bring soap, towel and other personal toilet items. Insect repellent, swimming gear, walking shoes, a sweet-shirt for the night in bivouac, a solar protection cream and a sense of adventure!

It is an incomparable adventure that I wish to share with you today in presenting the national park of Umphang, one of the most beautiful regions of Thailand classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. A lot of activities amid greenery are possible like trekking in an amazing environment, bamboo rafting and elephant riding. I certainly carry a very good souvenir of my four-day stay in this magnificent place of dreams situated in the province of Tak.
