The city of Pai situated at the Northwest of Chiang May is lived by a population
of Shan and Thai together with Lahu, Lisu and Karen minorities, as well as Chinese
and Muslims. In addition to the different ethnic minorities, its surrounding area
has exceptional natural sites where the cross country motorcycle is the ideal means
of transportation for the adventure and the discovery of the Mae Hong Son region.

Team of Motocross bikers
   
Motocross School The only school of motocross in Thailand to make of you a motocross rider in a few days. Step by step, experienced instructors train the participants all day long on a private and closed circuit. The women bikers are also welcomed.

A: Short Programme: RT013A

Motocross itinerary in the North of Thailand:
Chiang Mai / Pai / Chiang Mai (4 days)

Day 1: Chiang Mai / Pai


Departure by vehicle toward the Pai region accessible by a sinuous road of more than 100 km. Stop along the way to the cascades of Mok Pha for a rest with recommended bathing. At the arrival in Pai, check-in in the Lodge for 2 nights.

Lunch at the Lodge's restaurant.

Afternoon dedicated to the discovery of Pai and its surroundings, with the visit of villages of the Shan tribes, Lahu, Lisu, Karen and also a village of the Kuomitmang.

Rest in the Lodge, with possibility of a medicinal herbs sauna, followed by a traditional massage.

Dinner and night at the Lodge.

Day 2: Pai

(Biker)
Training day, with warming-up on a circuit for cross-country motorcycles to evaluate the level of everyone, then departure on a track in the mountain to reach the mount Phi Lu. Return to Pai for lunch.

In the afternoon, departure on a jungle trail to reach the Lisu village of Phaem Bok with some difficult passages. Discovery of the ethnic tribes in the region, and leisure at the source of hot water and the cascades of Moe Paeng.

Return to Pai before the sunset.
Dinner and night in Pai.

Guided visit of the Pai region, by vehicle or by bicycle, with stops in villages of ethnic tribes, and discovery of the nature still well preserved in this region of Thailand.

Return to Pai for lunch.

Free afternoon for leisure, or the discovery of the surroundings.

Day 3: Pai / Soppong

 

(Biker)
Departure for 50 km of asphalted road in order to get to the underground cave of Tham Lod, then continuation on a track in the mountain to the village of Ban Egor at the Burmese border. Stops in villages of ethnic tribes on the road toward Mae Lanna.

Lunch picnic in the jungle with the group of non bikers.

Technical afternoon, with a difficult track through the jungle and rivers to cross in order to reach the Karen village of Manola.

continuation toward Soppong and check-in in the Lodge.

At the end of the morning, transfer by vehicle toward Mae Lanna, which is a region of forest, mountains, torrents and underground caves together with the minorities' villages.

Lunch picnic in the jungle with the group of bikers.

Afternoon dedicated to the visit of the vast underground cave of Tham Lot that is crossed by an underground river. From the main room, other annexed cavities are accessible by ladders, or along the river with some passages in the water.

Insurance:
Be aware that any damage on the motorcycles, as well as all possible accident and damage caused to a third party are under every biker's whole responsibility. Thank you to check with your personal insurance.

Day 1 to 3 : Chiang Mai / Pai / Soppong

Departure on a tiny track to Samsip, then continuation on the road to start again on a trail situated at the other side of the mountain, which will lead to 2 villages of minorities called the Red Lahu and Black Lahu, then return toward Pai. Lunch on location.

Continuation on trails, then the road to get to Mae Hong Son situated at the extreme northwest of Thailand where the prosperity comes in part from the commercial exchanges with Burma.

Check-in at the Hotel in Mae Hong Son for 2 nights.
Dinner and night at the Hotel.

Early walk at the departure of Soppong to discover several Lisu, Karen and Lahu villages, easily accessible on foot. Return in Pai by vehicle. Lunch in Soppong.

Departure by vehicle toward Mae Hong Son situated at 70 km of Soppong. At the arrival, check-in in the Hotel and late afternoon is free for an orientation tour in Mae Hong Son.

Day 5: Mae Hong Son

Morning dedicated to the discovery of the city's temples (Kong Moo, Phra No, Jong Klang and Jong Kam), then departure on the trails of the Mae Hong Son region with several stops in Karen tribe villages to observe the long neck women, or the Karen with long ears and the Red Karen.Lunch picnic on location.

In the afternoon, continuation by motorcycle for the discovery of the region, including an elephant riding trip in a lush jungle, before the return toward Mae Hong Son.

Dinner at the restaurant and night at the Hotel.

Morning dedicated to the discovery of the city's temples (Kong Moo, Phra No, Jong Klang and Jong Kam), then departure toward Mae Aw situated on a mountainous peak at the Burmese border, which is reputed for its Karen tribe villages, to observe the long neck women, or the Karen with long ears and the Red Karen. Lunch picnic on location.

In the afternoon, departure for an elephant ride in a lush jungle, then return to Mae Hong Son in dugout or by raft on the river.

Day 6: Mae Hong Son / Chiang Mai

Free time in the morning before the return to Chiang Mai by road with motobikes, with stop in Pai for the lunch. Arrive in Chiang Mai in late afternoon.

End of the programme.

Free time in the morning before the transfer to the airport and flight toward Chiang Mai, or back to Chiang Mai by the road.

Incentives...

It is possible to regroup more than twenty cross country motorcycles for authentic discoveries in the remote regions of Northern Thailand, with an English-speaking local guide, 3 to 4 instructors to supervise the motocross tour, 2 vehicles 4X4 for assistance with gas refilling tanks, spare mechanical parts, and extra motorcycles. A race can be also arranged on the motocross circuit of Pai Enduro Team, and riding courses can be taught to all. Here are good reasons for an incentive stay!

How to get to Mae Hong Son & Chiang Mai
:

 By air, more than 10 flights per day between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, then 3 flights per day between Mae Hong Son and Chiang Mai.

By road, departure by local air-conditionned bus every day from the Morchit bus station to Lopburi, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Lampang and Chiang Mai (10-15 hours-trip). To Pai, departure in local bus everyday starting at 7:00 A.M. at the Chiang Mai Arcade bus station (3-4 hours on the road to Pai), then to Mae Hong Son, 3 more hours.

Info: Bring soap, towel and other personal toilet items, trousers or shorts, a sweat-shirt or a sweater for the nights, an anti-mosquito lotion, a good solar protection, and a sense of adventure!

- Assistance for group (min.6 bikers): An English-speaking guide and a qualified mechanic. A 4X4 vehicle for assistance with gas refilling tanks, mechanical spare parts, and 2 extra motorcycles. For the non bikers, transportation in air-conditioned bus or mini-van, or Land Rover with English-speaking guide and local guides for the sporty activities.

- Typical Day: From 9:00 A.M. until the sunset, with short stops every 30 min. and rests every 2 hours in villages for gas refilling and the discovery of the different cultures of the ethnic tribes. 150 to 200 km per day.

Before departure from Chiang Mai, our sympathetic group gets ready to take the mini bus to reach Pai, situated at 134 kilometres from there. A stop along the way at the cascades of Mok Pha allows to cool us down with a bath that is pleasant to everybody. In the middle of the journey and in the mountain, we eat lunch in a small local village that is the place where the local buses halt in order to relax the dizzy passengers stunned by the speed on a twisting road! With our own means of transportation we are fortunate to be able to stop anywhere and can arrive safely at the destination as well…
