Get away by sailboat in the Koh Chang Archipelago

The Koh Chang National Marine Park situated in the gulf of Siam still offers
to travellers authentic landscapes, and getting away on board of a sailboat
the time of a weekend is probably an experience not to miss…

A choice of two programmes:

A) Programme Get Away: Get away on board of a sailboat for one weekend of navigation in the National Marine Park of Koh Chang that regroups 51 islands in the Gulf of Siam. More info

B) Programme Adventure: Discovery of the National Marine Park of Koh Chang in a sailboat named the Shearwater (or Thida) in 3 or 4 days with the exploration of the submarine floors, hikes on the islands, dinners on the beaches or moments of leisure on board. More info

A) Programme Get Away

Get away by sailboat in the Koh Chang Archipelago, the time of a weekend!

Day 1: Bangkok / Trat / Koh Chang Archipelago

06.00 Departure in mini-van from Bangkok toward the region of Trat, situated at the East of Thailand close to the Cambodian border.

12.00 Upon arrival to the port of Laem Ngop, get on board of the Shearwater sailboat (or Thida). An experienced Captain sails the sailboat during the whole journey, no sailing experience is necessary for the passengers, but everyone can take part in the action in participating to the navigation.

13.00 Navigation toward the islands of the National Marine Park of Koh Chang with lunch served on board. The afternoon is dedicated to leisure time on board and navigation within the islands of the Marine Park.

18.00 At the end of the day, anchorage out of one of the islands in the south of Ko Chang for a dinner in a restaurant on the beach.

20.00 Night on board of the sailboat near Koh Mak Island.

Day 2: Koh Chang Archipelago / Trat / Bangkok

07.00 Breakfast on board.

08.00 Morning dedicated to scuba diving in the waters of Koh Wai or Koh Rank, islands that can also be explored on foot.

12.00 Lunch on board.

13.00 Return toward the continent while sailing along the coast of the Koh Chang Island.

17.00 Upon arrival to the port of Laem Ngop, departure by vehicle for the return to Bangkok.
Note: dinner is not included along the way.

23.00 Arrival in Bangkok (Silom road).

B) Programme Adventure:

Spend 3-4 days by sailboat in the Ko Chang Archipelago !

Day 1: Koh Chang / Koh Wai-Koh Kham

Departure at 8 o'clock on Monday morning from the hotel on the Koh Chang Island. Get on the sailboat and navigate along the West coast of Koh Chang. Have lunch on the boat, and dine in a comfortable restaurant on the island of Koh Wai or Koh Kham, then spend the night on board moored on the beach.
(This choice depends on the weather).

Day 2: Koh Wai-Koh Kham / Koh Kood

The second day, wake up for breakfast on the boat in the glorious national marine park. Navigation toward Koh Rank that contains isolated reefs providing a shelter for a variety of soft or hard corals, as well as for the tropical aquatic fauna. After the exploration of the reefs, navigations to Koh Kood in order to spend the night, moored to its beach. Lunch and dinner are provided on the boat.

Day 3: Koh Kood / Koh Wai-Koh Kham

Breakfast on the boat. Passage in a swamp, then foot on the ground for a hike of fifteen minutes in order to explore the jungle, and to stop to a waterfall for a swim. Have lunch on the boat and then navigate in direction of Koh Kham or Koh Wai. Moor on the beach and dinner on the island. Night on board.

Day 4: Koh Wai-Koh Kham / Koh Chang

Breakfast on the boat, then time for swimming in the crystalline water with the exploration of the surrounding corals. Finally, sail for the return to "White Sand Beach" on the island of Koh Chang. Stop along the way for lunch and a last bath. Arrived at about 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Dinner is not provided the last day.

Sailboats can be chartered for an indefinite number of days, starting with a four-day trip. Chartering is recommended for groups of friends, honey moons, those who want to receive an instruction on navigation or want more freedom. The boat doesn't leave without its Captain who is available to prepare an itinerary adapted to your wishes. On board, everyone is free to do whatever he wants (within reason). The meals and the lodgings are provided to the participants on board of the boat. Dinners can be taken in a restaurant on the beach of one of the islands.

Story "Sailing in a postcard panorama"

Before departure from Silom very early in the morning, our small group meets for an adventurous weekend in the archipelago of Ko Chang, literally "the elephant island". Seated in the mini van that drives us to Trat, a small city situated close to the Cambodian border, we introduce ourselves and engage in a conversation. Only one person has already sailed on a sailing boat before and for the rest of us it will be a new experience. During the journey that lasts 5 hours, the Thai style wooden houses as well as the typical countryside shops of the places we pass through remind us that we are already far from the capital
