Visit of "Ancient City" in Samut Prakan

Meuang Boran or Ancient City is one of the wonderful places little known or advertised and it is all at the advantage of those who search for tranquility and authenticity. An original excursion in this theme park that displays a collection of 112 existing or reconstructed monument reproductions on a land having the shape of Thailand.

Full day in Ancient City:

The whole day is necessary to fully appreciate Ancient City and its atmosphere.

Everyone will be able to further his knowledge on art, culture and Thai history while going for a walk in this theme park.

08.30 Departure from your Hotel.

09.15 Arrival at "Ancient City".

The visit starts with the southern region of the country to Bangkok. The group stops at the different monuments and the explanations are given by our English-speaking guide.

10.00 Visit of Dusit Maha Prasat the present grand palace in Bangkok, then visit of Sanphet Prasat the former grand palace in Ayutthaya. Historical explanations given by our guide.

"Meuang Boran" is the only place in Thailand where you can admire a splendid reconstruction of the former grand palace Sanphet Prasat in Ayutthaya, that was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767.

It is in this palace that the first European, and especially the French ambassadors under the reign of Louis XIV, met the king Narai perched on his throne.

11.30 Arrival at the floating market for lunch.

Phanom Rung - Buriram

12.30 The visit continues in direction of the East by the sanctuary of Phimai in Nakhon Ratchasima, then the sanctuary of Phanom Rung in Buriram
(picture on the left).
Come then the model of Khao Phra Wihan that was created after numerous studies. The architectural structure and the physical features of the original site have been reproduced with care to maintain their sacred significance.

Soil has been brought to create the hill at a scale of 1/10. The sanctuary in itself is at 1/3 of the original site size. On the top of this monument, you will be able to have a general view of the park and the gulf of Thailand.

14.00 Visit of the cultural and social Anthropological Museum that regroups the biggest collection of farming objects of every region, then the sculptures of the Thai epic history and an exhibition of the procession of Royal barges.

16.00 End of the visit and return to Bangkok.

Story "Walking tour of Thailand in one day"

After breakfast early in the morning, our group gets ready for the tour of Thailand in one day. But how is this possible? Meuang Boran allows us to experience this on foot as well as by bicycle or tandem, samlor or vehicle. This historic park is situated on the old Sukhumvit road and about one hour is needed from the centre of the capital to reach there. When we arrive at the entrance, we are surprised not to see the tens of buses usually parked close to tourist places. Without a doubt, Meuang Boran is part of the privileged places little known or marketed, and that is all to the advantage of those who look for tranquillity and authenticity.
